Daily Habits
Hmm....how shall I start? Last Sunday at ustazah's lesson, learnt alot of good tips and simple daily habits which can help us, muslims, to lead a more well rounded and fruitful life. Firstly, the importance of practising Doa Istinjak, and Doa when entering our homes where our homes we are advised not to just take it as a
place to sleep at night but as a
home where families get together to bond and seek shelter together. Parents should always give prayers to their children and likewise children are also taught to give prayers to their parents no matter how bad/irresponsible their parents might be.
Always respect each other and pray for each other to help each other understand and embrace Islam's way of life without giving up. Always have feelings of empaty, sympathy to anyone regardless of race and religion. Don't have bad feelings, assumptions and negative thinking. Always keep Allah close by reciting Allah's name in our hearts in whatever we do. Insyallah.....
East Coast
Had a fun day at the beach today in celebration of my sister-in-laws birthday. Lots of food and a delicious super chocolate cake from Secret Recipe!!! The kids of course had a lot of fun too, frolicking in the sun, soaking in the seawater and cycling all around. Arrived home and so tired. Luckily on leave tomorrow!!! Yahoooooo....Sleep late with my kids....:)
The importance of Doa Istinjak
Had my first lesson with Ustazah Zubaidah. The lesson was actually focusing on female teenagers, especially those who are 'green' on the teachings of Islam. However, there were mothers too which Ustazah acknowledged their presence and also have some important tips and help on how to further help their teenagers to go on the right path and have a blessed and fruitful life.
Ustazah reiterated on the importance of Doa Istinjak and how it is the key to our sense of wellbeing. It is the doa to cleanse and purify ourselves in the aspects of physical and mental. Practise it everyday Insyallahh... May Allah bless us in our efforts.
Kumon
Attended the parent orientation at Kumon to find out more on Kumon's method of learning. I find the skill, habits, discipline inculcated in the Kumon method of learning are all useful and realistic skills to enable the child to be able to perform at his best in his studies even in life as a whole. I believe the skills learnt in Kumon can develop the childs potential at its best. Always have faith in the efforts that you have put in for the good. Insyallah...
Heart wrenching
Zaidi just had his CA marks. This time he failed his math, too many careless mistakes. He was sad and explained to me that he did try very hard, he concentrated and read the questions carefully and tried to do how I had shown him to do. But sadly, he still lost marks due to careless mistakes. He told me he wanted so hard to have many crosses on his paper. I feel for him. For me, I felt his disappointment and determination. I guess it is time I step up and do something. I know I don't have that precious studying time with him. Cos everytime I come home from work, it is already late and when Zaidi wants to study with me, Raiyan would want to tag along. He refuses to part from me....and of course he causes distractions for Zaidi. I can feel the battle Zaidi is going through. I am sorry Zaidi, for now I cannot have that full time with you yet..but I am working hard towards it.
Zaidi has interest in joining Kumon as he always observes his cousins who are younger then him do math without even batting an eye!! And after reading up on Kumon's method of learning, I understand what they focus on and I believe this can help Zaidi in many ways. Going for the parent orientation at Kumon tomorrow with Zaidi and he is so excited and set to start as soon as possible. He said "I want to be able to do math fast and accurate just like my cousin!". He is so enthusiastice but I am afraid he may be pushing himself to hard. I will support him in any way I can.
